The bravest distance a person travels is the one inside. Some of it I have walked alone. Some of it with people who knew the way better than I did. None of it is a highlight reel.
I co-created Becoming Fearless · The Daily Brave with Cassie Childers. An 84-day journal that walks a reader from fear into courage one small, honest practice at a time. We made it because the version of this work we wanted didn't exist, and because we had both been on enough of our own journey to know what would have helped.
Courage is not the absence of fear. It is the daily decision to keep moving while you feel it.
My own path inward has included the ceremonial work of plant medicine: sacred space, deep reflection, and the slow practice of meeting myself honestly. It is not a shortcut. It is not for everyone. For me it has been the way I learned to sit still with the parts of myself I used to outrun.
Fifty arrives this June. I want to walk into it lighter than I walked out of forty. I want to keep meeting the things that frighten me until they have less to teach me. And I want, mostly, to be the kind of father, partner, and friend who is genuinely there when he is in the room.
